Up Late with Rus & Pat – Episode 10

Screenshot 2014-11-11 10.16.26Ten whole episodes! This one’s kind of long, so you may want to break it into chunks when you listen. We start off talking about the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, then we get into Star Wars films, which we fell in love with in 1977. Along the way, we somehow diverge into 1980s sci-fi films and the short-lived, early ’80s 3-D movie revival as well as discussing our appreciation for WWII veterans. There is some discussion of plastic surgery, and we make it back around to The Walking Dead before wrapping up with a jumbled mess of sleep-deprived rambling.

Up Late with Rus & Pat – Episode 9

gary-colemanNumber 9 is a Very Special episode of Up Late! For better or worse. This one’s a good 90 minutes, and we travel back to the ’70s again, make our way through the ’80s with a discussion of Diff’rent Strokes, but we then jump to the future with a discussion of the cool sci-fi adventure film Snowpiercer!  Not only are the French responsible for Snowpiercer as it was originally a French comicbook, but Pat blames them for both creating Godzilla in the original film and for the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The episode wraps up with a discussion of the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead and what happened to Beth.

Up Late with Rus & Pat – Episode 6

CoralSnakeIt’s mostly a zombie episode… mostly. We start out with a recap of previous topics like cartoons and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but we dig into the latest episode of The Walking Dead, starting at the 12:45 mark, so stop there to avoid spoilers. We wrap up with a discussion about Zack Snyder & James Gunn‘s 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Up Late with Rus & Pat – Episode 4

george___spanky___mcfarland___the_kid_from_borneoTangents a-plenty! In this episode we focus on three specific topics, but we do end up veering down Tangent Road several times, going from the just-released Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer to Spanky and the Little Rascals (Our Gang) to Stan Lee then back to Avengers (all of it actually tied together). We discuss the latest episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, starting at the 24 minute mark, talking about everything from sustenance after the zombie apocalypse to komodo dragons and how they’re poisonous but not venomous, all related in some way to The Walking Dead.  We wrap up the zombie talk at 1:06 (and 45 seconds) and then finish off the podcast talking about Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar, a short film produced as a “fan film” but with the production values and cast on par with something Paramount itself might produce; great Trek stuff!

The next episode will be shorter, we promise!
