David headed over to Spain (virtually) and talked to Miguel Porto, the artistic genius behind the visually stunning Allen: Son of Hellcock (created by Gabe Koplowitz & Will Tracey, Crowdfinders 39). They talk about finding your artistic voice, the comic book scene in Spain and working as a freelancer in an international market.
It’s two — count ’em — two episodes in one! That means we ramble on for far too long, about 2 hours. But we do focus on two main topics: first, the brilliant FX show Fargo, and second, the new Marvel series on Netflix,Jessica Jones! We like both, but Fargo rules television.
This time around, David talks with Koren Shadmi about his new graphic novel The Abaddon, and maybe they get a little philosophical, even a little existential in the process.
Be sure to shout out to Koren on the Twitter @KorenShadmi and tell him how much you loved hearing him on Crowdfinders (and I suppose, by extension, how much you love Crowdfinders and The Up Late Network, thanks!!!)
David laughed his butt off talking with Will Tracy and Gabe Koplowitz about their new book from Z2 Comics, ALLEN: SON OF HELLCOCK. Great dudes, super fun conversation, but we must warn you, sit down before you listen because you will laugh your butt off too and will be unable to sit down after you listen.
A bit about the book (from Z2’s promo department): Writers Will Tracy (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver) and Gabe Koplowitz, are, with artist Miguel Porto, creating their comic book debut ALLEN: SON OF HELLCOCK, due out this December from Z2 Comics. Title character Allen is cowardly, directionless, and less physically menacing than a daffodil. He’s also the only son of the mightiest hero ever to plunge his sword hilt-deep into the dark heart of evil… the mighty HELLCOCK! Enjoy the ride as Allen is thrust sword-first into a not-so-classic fantasy quest that, frankly, he would rather just sit out.
Rus and Pat are back! After nearly a month on hiatus (due to the usual work/life issues) we begin by discussing some of the projects we’ve been working on in favor of sleep. We move on and talk about the new documentary I Am Chris Farley and then dive into the new Star Trek fan film / pilot episode Star Trek: Renegades ! Join us for this, a boatload of tangents, and an intro that will just not stop!
The 2015 NFL season is upon us, so Chris and Pat strap on the pads with this very special 9th episode of Thank You For Doing This! Join us as we breakdown every division in the NFL, predict their winners, and tell you which two teams will meet in the Super Bowl in February! We then move on to our favorite segment, and give you the Top 5 Spin-off Television Shows we want to see made!
Pat is happy to point out that Rus is totally wrong in this episode when he says The Last Starfighterwas the first film using CGI special effects — Tron beat it by 2 years — however, Rus would like to point out that The Last Starfighterwas the first to use CGI to represent photo-realism, as opposed to thevirtual computer world in Tron.
Phew! Now, go put your geek-pants on! We’re geek-pants people!
The big three-oh! And two episodes in one week! Topics this episode include the passing of actor, Christopher Lee, the announcement of the casting of the role of Punisher for season 2 of Daredevil, serfdom, and of course, tangents-a-plenty. We’ve also got some cool Punisher related stuff on our All-Things-Geek page. Enjoy!
